Bright Electric was started in 1994 by Darrel Pinkston, a master electrician who had worked 17 years at Evansville's former Welborn Hospital. It is still a family business: his son Matt Pinkston, a master electrician who joined in 1997, runs operations with his sister Melanie and his son William, the third generation in the trade.
For homeowners, Bright Electric does troubleshooting and repairs, service upgrades and panel replacements, new home wiring, remodels, sunrooms and room additions. It installs customer-supplied whole-house generators, generator transfer switches and generator inlets with interlock kits, and it installs EV chargers. The company also works on apartments and commercial projects, owns a bucket truck and rents or sells temporary power poles.
